The Mediating Effects of Ego-resilience in the Relationships between Personality Traits and Psychological Burnout amongst Play-therapists

Abstract
This study investigated the influence of play therapists`` personality traits and ego-resilience on the question of psychological burnout, and the influence of play therapists`` personality traits through ego-resilience on psychological burnout. The data was analyzed by means of the SAS statistical program. In order to understand the general characteristics of the subjects, first, frequency and percentage were calculated while Cronbach coefficient was calculated to verify the reliability of each measuring tool. In order to understand the relationship between each variable, such as play therapists`` personality traits, ego-resilience and psychological burnout, correlation analysis between each variable was conducted. Next, multiple regression analysis was performed in order to investigate the influence of play therapists`` personality traits on psychological burnout. This was done while also performing a simple regression analysis to observe the influence of ego-resilience on psychological burnout. Lastly, in order to understand the direct/indirect influence of play therapists`` personality traits through ego-resilience on psychological burnout, path analysis was carried out. The results of this study are shown below. In terms of the pathways of sincerity, ego-resilience and psychological burnout, amongst play therapists, their sincerity, extraversion and emotionality was observed to have indirect influences through ego-resilience on psychological burnout while honesty/modesty had direct influences on psychological burnout. Specifically sincerity and extraversion amongst play therapists`` revealed a positive and direct influence on ego-resilience while having a negative indirect influence on psychological burnout. Whereas, emotionality showed a negative direct influence on ego-resilience while also a negative indirect influence on psychological burnout. Lastly, honesty/modesty had a positive direct influence on psychological burnout.
